The GWB Commission is the leading event planning brand within the West African community in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The Commission brings new experiences, quality events, and long lasting memories to the West African community. The Commission specializes in marketing, promotion, concept development and event production, such as “The Green. White. & Blue. Ball”.
As the digital marketing manager for The Commission, I was responsible for website design and development, social media management, sponsorship and fundraising and event production. I launched several campaigns, “The Legacy Campaign”—a matching donation initiative—raising funds for Sierra Leone’s orphaned children affected by the Ebola outbreak and “One Tribe”—a viral social media quiz themed after the annual ball’s theme. These campaigns and the digital marketing efforts that supported these campaigns increased the organization’s event sales, follower count, and engagement on the respective social media platforms.
